1:00 - 4:00 p.m. - Bus Tour of Columbus Meet at Puckett House, 11th Street Entrance Board the CVB’s double decker bus to enjoy a tour of the historic district, visit an antebellum home and a floral presentation at Trotter Convention Center by Hitomi Gilliam, famous floral designer from Vancouver, British Columbia, and recipient of the American Institute of Floral Designers Design Influence Award. ($20 per person)
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. - Rock the Block Outside Stark Recreation Center, 5th Avenue South We’re taking your favorite workouts to the streets in this ultimate dance-fitness party. Join instructors as they lead participants in a variety of aerobic fitness classes including Zumba. There will be light refreshments and door prize drawings. This event is free and open to the community.
3:00 - 6:00 p.m. - W Outreach Showcase Office of Outreach & Innovation, Education & Human Sciences Building, Fourth Floor Join us for a “come and go” reception showcasing The W’s outreach programs including local efforts for youth and adults, regional conferences, training for professionals, and more. Alumni also will have the opportunity for a sneak peek at what we hope to accomplish next. Don’t miss this chance to learn more, offer feedback, and get involved. Local business and community leaders will be invited to join us as we celebrate The W’s contributions.
4:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Alumni Relax and Learn Hogarth W Room, Outside Bookstore Come lounge in the Student Center with Michael Farris Smith, Associate Professor of English at the W, and learn about his novel, “Rivers,” which made Hudson Booksellers Best Books of 2013 and is this year’s campus common reading initiative selection.
4:30 - 7:00 p.m. - Art Exhibition and Welcome Home Reception Featuring Illuminated Memory: A Retrospective of Larry Feeney Eugenia Summer Gallery, Art & Design Building This event is sponsored by the MUWAA Lowndes County Chapter with Larry Feeney speaking at 4:30 p.m. and the reception beginning at 5:00 p.m.
4:30 - 6:00 p.m. BlackList 100th Anniversary Celebration Puckett House Come and watch the oldest W club march through campus ending with a reception open to everyone! Refreshments will be provided. 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. W5K Glow Edition (ticketed event) Stark Recreation Center Light up the night in this electric fun run on the MUW Campus with President Dr. Jim Borsig. Come decked out in your favorite glow gear, and make your way through multiple black-light Glow zones along the 5K course. Participants will be sprayed with intense Glow solution as they run or dance their way through the route to adrenaline-pumping music. The “After Glow Party” begins when you cross the finish line at the Alumni Karaoke tent. You must register on-line at http://glow5k.eventbrite.com. ($20 includes registration & t-shirt)
