College of Arts & Sciences
Whether you are looking to uncover history or write the next chapter, the Department of History, Political Science, and Geography will set you on a course for an exciting career.
For History majors, The W offers degrees in History as well as a Public History concentration. If you are looking to change the world, the department's Political Science program has been the start of many promising careers. Do you like to forge your own path? The Interdisciplinary Studies major will allow you to develop a baccalaureate program as unique as you are. And if hope to inspire the next generation, we offer a Teacher Certification in History or Social Sciences.
Our department also offers three specialty minors which allow for in-depth study on the topics of Medieval & Renaissance Studies, American Studies and International Studies.
The Department of History, Political Science, and Geography is located in Painter Academic Hall. Constructed in 1922, Painter is on the National Register of Historic Places and is listed as a Mississippi Landmark. The historic building is also home our sister humanities department, Languages, Literature, and Philosophy.
