College of Arts & Sciences
The Department of History, Political Science, and Geography provides a broad liberal arts education for all students. Our courses emphasize reading, writing, and critical thinking as well as researching and utilizing primary and secondary sources of information. It is the Department’s mission to ensure that students majoring in History, Political Science, Social Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Studies will learn to analyze written material with accuracy and comprehension, to write clearly and correctly about a subject in a major field, to perform scholarly research on a topic in a major field in a format specific to the field, and to gain an understanding of a major field as it connects to the world at large.
Faculty members in the Department are dedicated to the educational attainment of our majors and minors, as well as serving the general education curriculum that is the foundation upon which the educational development of all MUW students is based. Majors and minors in our programs receive careful advising regarding their current educational path as well as available options in future employment and graduate study.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information about the benefits of study through the Department of History, Political Science, and Geography.
