College of Arts & Sciences
Philosophy, literally “love of wisdom,” is the study of humanity’s relationships to the world and to each other. Those who take philosophy classes are engaged in asking, answering, and debating about answers to life’s most basic questions. Every student who graduates from The W completes at least one philosophy course as a part of the core curriculum. Many more students elect philosophy courses because their content and emphasis on critical thinking enhance any academic program.
Students may earn a philosophy minor by completing Introduction to Philosophy and eighteen additional hours in the field. The philosophy minor is an excellent preparation for many graduate and professional programs. Students may also earn an Executive Certificate in Applied and Professional Ethics as part of any degree.
