Exercise & Physical Activity Guide for Adults: Life Enrichment Program

Instructor: Vivian Cade, Lowndes County Extension Agent

The goal of this course is to aid adults in improving their health and well-being. This program was developed by the National Institute on Aging and is a campaign to help the participant fit exercise and physical activity into their daily life. This course will aid the participant in how to start an exercise program, set health goals, and give examples of simple physical activities that can be done at home and healthy eating.

Art of Painting On Glass: Life Enrichment Program

Instructor: Elisa Barnes-Shizak, former floral designer for Beaumont Glass

Have fun learning how to apply different styles of floral and non-floral designs to glass items to create a beautiful hand-painted glass piece. Participants can bring personal glass items as mediums. A supply fee (no more than $25) will be assessed on the first day of class.

Easy to learn, One Stroke Brush Art technique can be used on any surface to produce a beautiful design. Create simple and easy art designs for home and make wonderful gifts for friends and family. A supply fee (no more than $25) will be assessed on the first day of class.

There are many more useful applications and utilities for iPhone and iPad, so join us as we learn more iDevice magic! This class is for those who have already taken our iPhone/iPad Essentials or for people who have had their iDevice for awhile and understand the basics of its operation. Please bring your fully charged Apple iPhone or iPad to class.

Tight muscles? Hurt all the time? Take some time to unwind, stretch, breathe, and relax. Bring an exercise, yoga or sticky mat, or a large towel to lie on.

Come and play like a child again. Exercise in water does not feel like work; it is ideal for bad knees and hips as the water supports body weight. Come try it – no swimming ability needed because all work is done in shallow water.

Development and Industry in the Golden Triangle: Life Enrichment Program

This course will combine on-site tours and classroom instruction to give participants an overview of economic development in the Golden Triangle. Local industry tours will provide an in-depth look into workforce development and manufacturing. Instruction will explain the process of development from a local and regional perspective.

Participants will learn how to cook healthy Brazilian and Caribbean cuisine on a small budget using different spices and flavors readily available in our local supermarkets, farmer’s markets and Asian markets. A fee of $40 will be accessed on first day of class.

A Little Bit about Dreams

Instructor: The Reverend Deacon Pam Rhea, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

This course will explore the language of dreams, symbolism, archetypal images, complexes, and how to do some basic dreamwork from a Jungian perspective, while incorporating examples from the Hebrew scriptures (Old Testament) and mythology. Participants will be encouraged to keep a dream journal.

Basic Horsemanship:Life Enrichment Program

Instructor: Pam Cunningham, Horse Trainer and Equestrian Enthusiast This class will include the proper way to catch and lead a horse and how to groom and tack a horse. Lectio Divina: Life Enrichment Program

Instructor: Dottie Porter, C.P.E, RN, MS in Counseling Psychology

Lectio Divina is a method used by early Christians, desert fathers and Benedictine monks to experience God’s voice speaking to them personally through scripture. It is finding its usefulness again in our fast paced culture for those who want to deepen their spiritual understanding. Bring your favorite Bible and a notepad to class.
