Welty Gala

Robert Edsel

On Friday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m., The W family, including students from the Ina E. Gordy Honors College, alumni, and community members, are invited to join us for an elegant evening on campus. The Welty Gala begins with a cocktail reception with this year's Welty Symposium authors followed by dinner and a presentation by best-selling author and historian Robert Edsel.

The Welty Gala is our annual fundraiser for the Eudora Welty Chair in Humanities. To ensure the success of this event, MUW is seeking supporters who will participate as Benefactors, Patrons, and Friends. The Welty Gala is a tremendous asset for The W and the local community. We are especially grateful and appreciative of your support for this event and the opportunity it provides our Honors College students to further their academic experience beyond the classroom.

For tickets to the Welty Gala, visit the gala website: www.muw.edu/welty/gala

Art in Autumn Auction

The Department of Art and Design’s chapter of Kappa Pi at The W will host its annual Art in Autumn Auction on Saturday, Nov. 8.  The event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Eugenia Summer Gallery in the Art and Design Building, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Doors open with a silent auction of donated student artwork. The live auction, which follows, features work by art faculty, art alumni and other professional artists.  Money raised at the event is also helps fund the department's trip fund, which allows student artists to visit major museums across the country.

With money raised from the auction, Kappa Pi has purchased big-ticket items for the high school art programs, items that the teachers usually cannot afford.

For more information, please contact the Department of Art & Design at (662) 329-7341.
