Dr. Valentin BogdanCOLUMBUS, Miss. -- Dr. Valentin Mihai Bogdan, new assistant piano professor at The W, will perform a solo piano recital, Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Connie Sills Kossen Auditorium, Poindexter Hall.


His recital will feature repertoire from various musical genres, spanning from the Baroque to the Modern period. 

Originally from Romania, Bogdan is an award-winning pianist and composer. He is a prize winner at international piano competitions and has performed recitals in the United States, Canada, Bulgaria, Romania, France, Great Britain, Netherlands and Jordan. 

As a composer, his music has been performed at various new music festivals and conferences by musicians from the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Duo Trivella and the Beta Collide Ensemble. 

He earned music degrees from Wayne State University, Michigan State University and University of Miami.

Before joining The W this summer, Bogdan taught as a full-time professor at Grambling State University in Louisiana and Arizona Western College.
