Your Counseling Center
Who is eligible for counseling?
All enrolled W students are eligible for using the services provided by Counseling Services. Non-student spouses or partners of students may be seen in the context of couples counseling with their partner. If there are indicators of a need for individual counseling with the non-student, he/she will be referred to an appropriate outside agency. There are no costs to those W students that are eligible to receive counseling.
Counseling Center Services
The Counseling Center is available to provide a wide range of services to students enrolled at The W. If a student is experiencing stress, having difficulty adjusting to student life, struggling to create or maintain peer/family relationships, or simply needs an objective point of view regarding a decision or issue in their life, the counseling staff can help. The counselors are also well-trained mental health professionals who can assist students with any mental health needs, including referral to local outside agencies if necessary.
Counseling services include individual, group and couples counseling to all enrolled students whether they live on-campus or off-campus. The counseling staff is also available to present workshops to faculty/staff or students on various life coping skill topics and mental health issues. If there is a need for the students in our W community, we want to help meet those needs.
These services are free to students and all they have to do is come by the center or call (662)329- 7748 to schedule an appointment. The W Counseling Center is located in "The Blue House" on the corner of 11th Street and 4th Avenue.
