Campus Health Center

Ambulatory care and health education is the goal of the Campus Health Center.

All MUW and MSMS students, faculty and staff are eligible to use the Health Center. No fee is charged for routine visits to the Health Center. Spouses and dependent children over the age of three years also are eligible to use the health center for a fee of $15.00. There is a nominal charge to cover the cost of medications, supplies and complete physical exams for all individuals using the health center.

The Center, located in the Eckford Building, is administered by the Dean of the College of Nursing & Speech-Language Pathology. It is staffed by Nurse Practitioners who are faculty members in the College of Nursing. The Nurse Practitioners are master's and doctorally prepared registered nurses who in their expanded role are licensed to diagnose and treat many common conditions. The protocols for treatment are developed in conjunction with the Mississippi Board of Nursing and a collaborating physician.  Additional staff includes an RN/Health Center Coordinator, and a Receptionist/Administrative Assistant.

The hours of operation for the Health Center are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, closing one hour for lunch each day. The RN/Health Center Coordinator is available during these hours of operation. The Nurse Practitioner is available from 8:00 am to 12 Noon and from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. At times, it may be necessary to stop accepting patients prior to 12 Noon and 4 PM due to an elevated patient load.

When the Health Center is closed or a Nurse Practitioner is not available, local clinics or the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle may be used by patients requiring care. A partial list of local walk-in clinics is listed below.
