College of Education & Human Sciences
Working in the field of education is one of the most rewarding professions! The education department offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees to help you maximize your understanding of teaching, leading, and learning.
Housed within the College of Education and Human Sciences is an undergraduate degree program in Elementary Education and graduate degree programs in Differentiated Instruction, Educational Leadership, Gifted Studies, Master of Arts in Teaching, and Reading Literacy.
The Department of Education also provides education coursework for those seeking teaching certification in other areas. The other education degrees available are housed within their respective colleges and include K-12 or 7-12 Mississippi Licensure eligibility. The licensure programs in K-12 include Art Education, Music Education, Physical Education, Spanish Education with Teacher Certification. The licensure programs in7-12 include Biology with Teacher Certification, English Major with Teacher Certification, History with Teacher Certification, Social Studies with Teacher Certification, Mathematics with Teacher Certification, and Physical Science with Teacher Certification.
The W also offers Institutional-approved programs for Mississippi Add-On endorsements which include: Chemistry (7-12), Comprehensive Health (K-12), Computer Applications (K-12), Gifted Education (K-12) graduate program, Reading/Literacy (K-12)-graduate program, Special Education: Mild/Moderate Disability (K-8), Special Education: Mild/Moderate (7-12), Health Education (K-12)-graduate program, and Mathematics (7-12).
The “Educator as Reflective Decision Maker” is the model for the conceptual framework for the educator preparation programs at Mississippi University for Women.
