Telefund Ambassadors are students who have the privilege of contacting MUW alumni. In the calling center, located in Welty Hall, their personalized contact can provide you with information about the University, answer your questions, invite you to participate in events on campus, update your alumni records, and offer you the opportunity to make a gift to the W Fund or restricted fund of your choice.
The W Fund provides unrestricted funds for Mississippi University for Women. Critical needs are met through The W Fund such as student recruitment, faculty and staff development, tracking and staying in touch with alumni, and most importantly fundraising initiatives for student scholarships. The W Fund also provides funding for items and programs that are not covered by state allocations and tuition fees. The W Fund differs from endowed funds because it provides MUW with immediate "spendable" income.
Mississippi University for Women currently receives funding from three sources: state appropriations, tuition and fees, and private contributions. In order to offer an affordable and accessible high-quality education, MUW must supplement the first two sources of funding with the third, private contributions. This allows MUW to compete with other institutions by helping maintain excellent university programs despite declining financial support from the state.
Alumni participation has always been a measure of a university’s relationship with its most important constituents—alumni.A strong alumni participation rate sends a message that MUW graduates believe in Mississippi University for Women and its continued success.
A new W Fund begins on July 1st each year, corresponding with MUW's fiscal year. Because the need for scholarships and other funding continues from year to year, alumni are encouraged to support the W Fund each year. Regular gifts from alumni and friends are essential in helping the University thrive well into the future.
Gifts of all levels are appreciated and will be put to good use for your alma mater. This year MUW friends and family are invited to join Donor Societies. Each society offers benefits to its members, allowing MUW to thank you for your continued support. These societies are:
