Required of all recipients of Centennial and Honors Scholarships, but open to application from other high-performing, highly motivated students, the Ina E. Gordy Honors College is a means of adding depth to undergraduate education. It encourages curiosity and initiative and provides an opportunity to apply learning to significant projects. Honors students are expected to exhibit academic excellence, not only in their grades, but also in their willingness to pursue knowledge in various fields other than their chosen majors.
Applying for Admission to the Gordy Honors College
The following scholarship recipients are automatically admitted to the Honors College. A requirement of each scholarship is that they remain a member in good standing of the Honors College.
Centennial Scholars Honors Scholars
Entering freshmen may apply for admission to the Honors College if they have a composite ACT score of 24 (or the equivalent on other entrance exams). After their first semester in residence, other interested students may apply for admission on the basis of a quality point average of at least 3.30 QPA after 15 semester hours of credit, a 3.50 after 30 semester hours of credit, and a 3.70 after 60 semester hours of credit. Admission in the sophomore year is extremely difficult and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
