The W License PlateCOLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women is announcing the availability of a new specialty car tag, which may be ordered from county tax assessor offices.

“We continue to build a strong brand and visual identity,” said President Jim Borsig.  “The new tag is much more visible from a distance and reinforces the logo that the university is using widely,” he said.

The W worked with the state Department of Revenue to submit and receive approval on the design, which also carries the university’s web address and the slogan “Long Blue Line.”  “We thank everyone at DOR for their assistance in helping us with this project,” Borsig said.  The last car tag design was done in 1992.

Those who have the older specialty tag may continue to use it.  As with the older tags, the new tags are available for $51 above the current assessed value of the vehicle tag.  Of that, $31.50 returns to The W to support its programs.

“This is a great way for alumni and friends of The W to show their pride in this institution and provide support to the university at the same time,” Borsig said. “We think the design will be popular.”

Student NetID Password Update

MUW ITS will be implementing a new password policy for all University Student users starting Tuesday Feb. 28, at 10:00 AM. The password change will be activated/required upon your next login after the enforcement has been enabled. The change will not lock or force you out if you are actively working on your computer.

If your password already meets the above requirements, you will still have to change your password once the new policy rules are officially enforced. Changing your password before Feb. 28 should be done if you have a security reason to do so, but not in response to jumping ahead of the Password Policy change date/time. Changing your password ahead of time will not negate the requirement to change it again on Tuesday Feb. 28, at 10:00 AM.

After the new password policy has been enabled, Students will not be able to login to services (Portal, MUWnet WiFi, Office 365, Orgsync, etc…) that use NetID credentials until you change and update your password using the follow criteria.

MUW ITS will never ask for your NetID Password via email.
