COLUMBUS, Miss. – Guests will be treated to The Motown Experience with an all-star lineup of world class vocalists assembled from members of The Capitols, The Miracles and former members of The Temptations Friday, March 24 at 8 p.m. in Rent Auditorium, Whitfield Hall.

The performance is free and open to the public and will be held during Mississippi University for Women’s Homecoming Festivities, March 23-26. A ticket is required to attend the event.

These artists will recreate the excitement and high energy vocals of Motown with impeccable harmonies, dazzling choreography and timeless grooves of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

“This is going to be a show that you could bring your whole family. I think children would love Motown and the music. This also could be a date night,” said Andrea Stevens, executive director of development and alumni. “I am pretty sure people will be dancing and singing in the aisle. It will be an entertaining evening for the audience.”

The Leslie Farrell Threadgill Lecture and Artist Series endowment, held by the MUW Foundation and given by her family, is The W’s largest lectureship endowment. The fund promotes family and cultural influences to advance the artistic and intellectual environment of the university and to strengthen the cultural bond between the university and the public.

Over the years, the endowment has brought symphony and popular music performances to the campus free of charge for W students, faculty, staff and their families. The Late Leslie Threadgill’52 of Columbus and her husband, Bill, have a long history of involvement with The W as major supporters of the university.

Tickets are available in the MUW Office of Development and Alumni in Welty Hall Room 200 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at the Visit Columbus Office and the Tennessee Williams Welcome Center.
