Life Enrichment Program Fall Term 2

Mondays

Whole 30 Journey (6 p.m.)

Instructor: Cassie McCool, Health and Wellness Enthusiast
Whole 30 is a dietary reset program that can be used to identify potential food allergies by eliminating problematic foods for 30 days and then systematically reintroducing them to observe reactions. In this class, participants will receive an overview of the program and a preparation plan from the book, “The Whole 30” written by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig to begin the process for optimal success.

Tuesdays

Understanding Disease Process in the Human Body

Have you ever wanted to know more about the underlying processes of specific diseases and the human body? What about the normal aging process of specific body systems. Participants will explore these areas in regards to cardiovascular, neurological, dermatological and renal systems in the human body.

Painting on Glass

11 a.m.

Floral Glass Art designer
Participants will learn the art of painting on glass and how to fire the glass object to make the design permanent. Participants will also be using other materials to paint to create artwork. If you’ve taken a previous class, you may bring your brushes but new brushes will also be provided. Please bring a 3 ring binder and a tote bag to keep materials organized. Wear something that you are not worried about getting painted. An additional fee of $25 will be charged for this course.

Splash Time

Instructor: Patty Keffer, Senior Water Aerobics and Silver Sneakers Instructor, YMCA
Come and play like a child again. Exercise in water does not feel like work, it is ideal for bad knees and hips as the water supports body weight. Come try it – no swimming ability needed because all work is done in shallow water.

Stretch, Breathe & Relax

Tight muscles? Hurt all the time? Take some time to unwind, stretch, breathe, and relax. Bring an exercise/yoga/sticky mat or a large towel to lie on.

Keep it Simple: The Basics of Investing

Do you understand the difference between an exchange traded fund (ETF) and a mutual fund? Investing can be made complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. This class will provide participants with a working glossary to understand the world of investing. It will provide a basic structure to assist in deductive decisions, and a fundamental framework to discuss the global marketplace.

Walking with The W

Time to Fire up the Grills

Come learn all about how to distinguish and purchase various cuts of meats, how to season meats with rubs & marinades, lighting a charcoal grill the correct way, how to smoke meats, and how to cook various cuts of meats such as beef, pork, chicken & venison. An additional fee of $40 will be charged for this class.

Advanced Crochet

Basic crocheting skills required for this intermediate level course. Discover even more enjoyment from the art of crochet and create more complex needlework items. Bring a packet of crochet hooks and any color yarn to class.

Five Wishes

1 p.m.
Instructor: Dottie Porter, C.P.E, RN, MS in Counseling Psychology
The Five Wishes is a program to help people decide what kind or care they want at the end of their life. Participants will work together through a workbook that can become a legal document regarding their own wishes. We will discuss the varying aspects of care for the dying. An additional fee of $1.25 will be charged for the workbook.

Wine Tasting and Restaurant Tour

6:30 p.m.
Instructor: Daniel and Leah Harrell, Wine Stewards
If you already enjoy learning about wine and want to dive in deeper into the fine, nuanced details, join us for this extraordinary exploration of wine. In this class, participants will progress beyond the basics as we cover tasting practicalities, tasting exercises, blind tasting, storage practices and more. Participants will also get to use their new talents at local restaurants. An additional fee of $65 will be charged for this course. Dinner at restaurants are dutch treat.

Cabbage Roses in Watercolor
