Welcome

The Office of Community Service recruits volunteers from the student body, networks with service agencies in the community that need volunteers, matches and places volunteers with an agency of their choosing.

Participation in community service a visible way to live the mission of Mississippi University for Women, and service allows students to share their talents with those in need, learn more about themselves, and give back to the community they call home.

The Office of Community Service maintains a list of service opportunities and organizes a variety of service events from afternoons of service to three day service trips. For most events, the office facilitates transportation to service sites.

Alternative Break- Spring 2016

Spring 2016 Alternative Break

Friday, April 15th- Sunday, April 17th


Each year, the Office of Community Service and the W Leadership Program chooses a location in need of service and plans a weekend dedicated to helping the area. Students will stay in primitive lodging throughout the weekend and will participate in physically demanding activities. The work done will be very meaningful for participants as well as residents of the selected location. Selected students will receive 15 hours of community service. Participants will depart early Friday morning (all morning classes will be missed) and arrive back to campus Sunday afternoon. Transportation and meals will be provided. 

There are 25 spots available, secure your spot by completing the
REGISTRATION FORM and pay the $15.00 regsistration* to guarantee a T-shirt register by March 23rd at noon. Alternative Break Registration is open until filled.

There is a mandatory trip meeting for ALL attendees at 6pm in Cochran, 303 on Tuesday, April 5th. This is required for all attendees, if you have a conflict with this meeting please contact Lexi Allen (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). All attendees will need to bring Health Insurance information (Card, Policy holder name and Policy number) to the meeting on April 5th at 6pm.

*The fee will assist with covering the cost of tranportaion, meals, and your Tshirt. This fee non-refundable and can be paid via cash, check, credit/debit card.
