The Student Government Association (SGA) at The W serves as the representative body for student needs by being the liaison between students and campus administrators and advocating for student satisfaction and success at MUW.  The Executive Officers and Senate members are visible on campus and host numerous programs and opportunities for you to get involved!

The “emPOWERment” event will feature sexual assault prevention methods, ways to report an assault and how to handle related situations. There will be a 30-minute self-defense demonstration led by Dr. Susan Ficken, assistant professor of mathematics, who has taught self-defense for four years. Karen Clay, university general counsel, will lead a discussion on Title IX rights, and Sara Beth Honsinger will talk about defining sexual assault. Food will be served to students attending.


W students take stand against sexual assault with new campaign

COLUMBUS, Miss. – One in five women and one in sixteen men are sexually assaulted in college, according to the “It’s On Us” initiative. Eight in 10 victims knew their attacker.
