What's Happening in Student Life

Alternative Break- Spring 2015

Spring 2015 Alternative Break dates are Friday, February 27th -Sunday, March 1st. 

Each year, the Office of Community Service and the W Leadership Program chooses a location in need of service and plans a weekend dedicated to helping the area. Students will stay in primitive lodging throughout the weekend and will participate in physically demanding activities. The work done will be very meaningful for participants as well as residents of the selected location. Selected students will receive 15 hours of community service. Participants will depart early Friday morning (all morning classes will be missed) and arrive back to campus Sunday afternoon. Transportation and meals will be provided.

There is a mandatory trip meeting for ALL attendees on  at 5pm in Cochran, 303.  This is required for all attendees, if you have a conflict with this meeting please contact Callie Hampton, Community Service Intern at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or stop by Cochran 200.  All attendees will need to bring Health Insurance information (Card, Policy holder name and Policy number) to the meeting on 2/19 at 5pm.

Anti-Hazing Policy Acknowledgment

As part of our ongoing campus education and hazing prevention efforts, the Office of Student Life is requiring that all student organization members and all advisors of student organizations sign The W Anti-Hazing Policy. This enhancement will help us ensure a safe and ethical campus environment and benefit us as a campus community by increasing the number of students as well as faculty and staff who actively take steps towards hazing prevention on a personal level. Magician Michael Kent

Magician Michael Kent - 7:30 PM in Nissan Auditorium

In 2014 Micheal Kent was named Entertainer of the Year. His show has been described as "wildly original" to "clever, sarcastic and absolute fun!" Get ready to enjoy revealing stories about being a magician to interactive routines with audience members on stage.



Musical Duo Josh & Larkin

Josh & Larkin - April 23rd 6:00 PM at Bryan Green Gazebo

Josh Turner and Larkin Dodgen are a musical duo hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina. Larkin provides the vocals while Josh's soothing backup complement her perfectly. They bring a fresh face to the genre of acoustic alternative music.
