Play it, sing it, act it, be it, do it. Life at MUW is active, social, fun, supportive, surprising, and friend-filled. We’ve heard it from our alumni time and time again: the close friends you make here will become your extended family. All of the relationships you create while studying at MUW – with classmates, teammates, advisors, faculty (and the list goes on) – contribute to the person you become when you leave. People believe in you at The W.
Living on campus just adds to the experience. Our receptive community will welcome you with open arms, listen to what you have to say, and support you at every turn. It’s what we do for each other, and, in that, we give one another the best chance to succeed. Isn’t that the type of environment where you'd want to realize your potential?
If so, the W crew is here for you.
At MUW there’s no shortage of learning and recreational activities to experience, and that’s not even the best part. What separates MUW from other universities is how easy we make it for students to get involved.
MUW is a perfectly-sized institution that provides real opportunities to every student. There are over 75 student clubs & organizations filled with open minds who are excited to have you onboard. Add to that the films, plays, concerts, art exhibits, and nationally-recognized speakers that fill the calendar weekly and you'll have to make sure to set time aside to study.
Even when you’re new to campus, you won't feel like a newbie for long. Students and MUW staff introduce themselves right away and will want to get to know you. Before long, you'll feel as comfortable as if your were at home.
Campus Recreation strives to provide quality recreation opportunities for the MUW community and to create a safe environment that fosters development of the mind, body, and soul. We offer programming that is tailored to the needs and desires of our students. Campus Recreation is dedicated to maintaining clean and safe facilities for its members. We also pledge to serve in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.

The Friendly City, that's Columbus' motto. It's one that you definitely feel as your drive down Main Street and when you come on campus. The city is also steeped in history. It's the birthplace of Tennessee Williams for one. His house is a historic landmark. For buffs of architecture, the area is a virtual catalog of American building styles from the 1820's to the 1900's.

If history or architecture aren't quite your thing, there's hiking, boating, fishing, bird watching, biking, you name it, on and along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. And if you're a shopper, there are some wonderful unique boutiques that are at the heart of Main Street, home to some fun and delicious restaurants as well.
If great food is a measure of a great place, then Columbus is the ticket. From home cooking to Americana cuisine, to bar food to steaks, seafood, and fine dining, the city has something that will appeal to your stomach. Barbecue, Thai, Chinese, Mexican, and fast food, of course! For the sweet tooth there're donuts, coffee, ice cream, and frozen yogurt.
