New York Times bestseller Po Bronson to speak at Welty Gala

Po BronsonMississippi University for Women will welcome best-selling author and social commentator Po Bronson to campus for the Welty Gala, October 25th at 7:00 p.m.

Po Bronson has built a career both as a successful novelist and as a prominent writer of narrative nonfiction.

He has published five books, and he has written for television, magazines, and newspapers, including Time, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, and for National Public Radio's Morning Edition. His books have been translated into 18 languages, and he's been on the cover of five magazines. Bronson has made a career of exploring the real lives of real people.

At the podium, Bronson brings his research to life with wit, first-hand experience, and a journalistic appetite for the truth. His presentations are like the life stories he chronicles: sometimes fun, sometimes moving, and always important and meaningful.

His book "What Should I Do With My Life?" was a #1 New York Times bestseller and remained in the top 10 for over nine months. Why? Because it struck a nerve. This book was not merely popular – it literally changed thousands of people's lives, waking them up to their own importance and stirring them to adopt a new philosophy. Po was on Oprah, NPR, and the Today show as part of an international tour that lasted over a year. "What Should I Do With My Life?" was then named by Business Week as one of the "Top 10 Business Books of the Decade," and was also named one of the "Top 100 Business Books of All Time" by CEO-READ.

Bronson is originally from Seattle, Washington, and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Stanford University. He also holds an M.F.A. from San Francisco State University. Bronson lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
