Jessica Harpole was named the Owl Star of the Year Award winner by Staff Council at the annual holiday luncheon Dec. 8.
An employee of The W for eight years, Harpole started at The W as the coordinator of leadership and service and then became director of student life. She currently leads eight functional areas including new student orientation, W Leadership Program, Student Programing Board (SBP) social clubs and Greek life, diversity education, community service, Blues Week and student organizations.
Her recent honors include Phi Theta Kappa Distinguished Alumnus MS/LA Region (2016) and National Society of Leadership & Success, Sigma Alpha Pi Excellence in Service to Students Award (2014). Jessica has also held advisory positions for the National Pan-Hellenic Council (2012-15) and the Young Black Leadership Association (2012-14).
The Owl Star Award is presented to those staff members who show outstanding professionalism, expertise and dedication to our university. Chris Jenkins, Towanda Williams, Rosamund "Claudia" McDavis and Harpole were the four staff members selected throughout the year to receive the Owl Star Award. The Owl Star of the Year Award winner is choosen from amoung the year's winners.
